If Amsterdam is on your travel radar, here’s a little airport news that might make your next trip through Schiphol a bit more comfortable.

American Express is opening a brand-new Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on September 17. It will be the 33rd Centurion Lounge worldwide and, surprisingly, the first one in continental Europe.

The new lounge is almost 6,000 square feet and will be located between Concourses E and F. It’ll be open every day from 6 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., which should cover most travelers passing through Schiphol during the day.

Inside, you’ll find a Blue Roast Coffee Bar, a full bar and a buffet serving seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and other European flavors. There will also be plenty of the things that really matter when you’re killing time between flights — high-speed Wi-Fi, lots of power and USB outlets, and a private phone room.

If you have an American Express Platinum Card, you’ll have unlimited access to the lounge. Cardholders who spend at least $75,000 in eligible purchases during a calendar year can also bring up to two guests at no additional charge.

Centurion Card members will have unlimited access as well, along with either two complimentary guests or immediate family members, including a spouse or domestic partner and children under 18.

For anyone who regularly flies through Amsterdam — or has a long layover at Schiphol coming up — this is definitely a nice new option to have. And considering how busy Schiphol can get, having somewhere comfortable to grab a coffee, charge your phone, eat something and escape the terminal for a while sounds pretty good to me!
